Qnexis was tasked to assist the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, HQ, Public Affairs/Communications Office with “rejuvenating” the quarterly print publication, Seabee Magazine. At the time, the magazine was not well-known in the Navy publishing realm and content was minimal – both in quality and quantity.

Qnexis provided project management, strategy, research, graphic design and editing/writing support to create a focused team editorial effort throughout the course of the first contract year (2005). Working with the client, Qnexis tailored a content matrix for each issue, and developed and cultivated a network of Navy journalists in the field. Submissions were tracked and accommodated for each issue, according to high-level themes. We also established a publication schedule and provided ongoing project management to ensure timely production of the magazine.

Now beginning our sixth contract year, Qnexis has facilitated the transition of Seabee Magazine through three editors. Following a recent readership survey managed by Qnexis, a majority (62.1%) of readers surveyed read Seabee Magazine each quarter. In addition, a majority of readers gave Seabee Magazine a satisfied or very satisfied (78.9% combined) rating. Overall, the major topics covered in Seabee Magazine are well aligned with the readership’s expectations. In 2011, Qnexis is working with the client on opportunities to refine the publication and provide more subject areas of interest to the audience.
